Our friends open DIDU on Myasnitskaya and we are throwing the opening party for them. DIDU is a new DJ Cafe with great food and a long list of special cocktails. They recently invited me for a digustation of their cocktails and I could hardly make it home after it.
Join us for the opening party. We are giving away 20 guest list places for the VIP pre-party with some free food and a cocktail digustation. Just leave us a message below if you want to join us. We’ll pick the 40 lucky ones randomly a day before the event and email you.
From 10 PM we’ll have a LF ONLY opening party with our DJs, hot dancers and some art performances. Cologne based artist Philipp Platz of my Creative Conscience will make a video installation based on the theme: COLORS.
Speaking of which. We ask you to come in very colorful clothes. We’re just tired of this Winter, the grey and cold. Lets celebrate Spring with as many colors as possible. We’ll work the lights and deco in the Cafe, but we need your help as well. Feel free to come in costumes. At least some colorful shirts or hats. Anything goes! Lets get crazy!

The Crystal Method (USA) @ B1 Maximum Feb. 27
According to The Crystal Method, they’re accessible to all because they’d like to draw in the electronic music as many people as possible. The Crystal Method are heroes of the Los Angeles rave scene of the early 1990s. The unresting electronic duo of Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland has been constantly gaining higher and higher positions on the charts. The neon lights of the southern megapolis, rumbling breakbeats and metal-edged synth melodies – these are the main components of The Crystal Method’s unique style called funky breaks.They have a lot of platinum-selling albums under their belt, as well as remixes for Moby, Black Grape and Zen Cowboys; a Grammy nomination (for their album “Legion of Boom”), a record-breaking amount of awards at the 2004 American Dance Music Awards (Best American Band, Best Album (”Legion of Boom”), and Best Single (”Born Too Slow”)).

Do you have any plans for Sunday night? Monday is a holiday! Lets party! Most of you may know our “Friends” party already. Its our House music format filled to the top with positive soulful house tunes.
We are holding this party in a very special location, Club Prive, formerly known as Cabaret. The club is usually reserved for Oligarchs private parties, but we managed to get the room for a night. Its located in the basement of Hotel Metropol.
No worries about facecontrol this time. We learned from last weeks Pacha experience and ths time we have our own guy at the door to make sure that there are really no problems (unless we are full). And this party is only us and our friends from Status Club.
On top of it we negotiated a recession special for you.
Drinks are reasonabley priced and some cocktails 20% discounted to their normal price.
You can make table reservations with us. Its ONLY a 2000 Rub deposit per person, if you want to book a table (min 3).
They have a buy one Kalian (1450 Rub) and get one for free special.
There is a VIP section on a balcony with 2 rooms. One fits 10 people and can be booked for a 20 000 Rub deposit. The other fits 15 people and can be booked for 30 000 Rub. You’ll have your own area, where you can do what you want. Your own waitress and a great view overlooking the party.

Fela Project – Afrobeat Night @ Cult Feb. 22
Fela Kuti was famous around the time I was born, 1971. Ha was then forgotten and died in 1997. Only after his death, DJs in London and Paris re-discovered his music and produced new house tracks with afrobeat elements. Yes, they even made a Broadway musical about Fela Kuti now.
He is still a hero for many Africans, especially the Nigerians. That’s where he came from. Lagos, was his home and they still have his Shrine, his club and legacy there. He was not only a musican, but also a highly political person.
You may have not heard of Fela and his Afrobeat music, but it influenced a lot of music you are listening today, may it be hip hop or house. Famous rappers like Common, Talib Kweli or Mos-Def have just talked about Felas influence on them and their music in the Fela Project Book (www.fela-project.net)
Fela was and is a controversial figure. For some he is a hero, others hate his personality and heritage. No matter what, one must respect Fela’s musical heritage. Its a unique blend of African rhythms and new Jazz, reaching out to Hip Hop and House music. There were many artists to follow his lead and even today we have famous Afrobeat bands, like New Yorks Antibalas or his son Femi Kuti. I used to frequently go to my friends Afrobeat party in New York, the Fela Project. When people asked me about it, I always said the same: If you are not moved by this music, if you don’t dance after a while, you are probably dead.
Therefore we are starting our own Fela Project here in Moscow. It has been my dream, ever since I arrived in Moscow. Felas music was always with me and with the Epik Sound guys, I found some brothers in arms. This Monday night, we’ll bring you our favorite Afrobeat tunes. Originals from Fela and other musicians, but also Hip Hop and House tunes, which were highly influenced by Felas Afrobeat. Yes Baby! Its Felas music. Its Afrobeat and if you don’t move, you re probably dead.

Uriah Heep’s by-the-books progressive heavy metal made the British band one of the most popular hard rock groups of the early ’70s. Formed by vocalist David Byron and guitarist Mick Box in the late ’60s, the group went through an astonishing number of members over the next two decades – nearly 30 different musicians passed through the band over the years.

Babyshambles (UK) @ B1 Maximum Jan. 31
Formed in spring 2004, just as the Libertines were beginning to fall apart, Babyshambles became the main vessel for Peter Doherty’s poetic, chaotic rock when he was ousted from the Libertines for his increasing drug use and erratic behavior. Babyshambles released their self-titled debut 7″ in April 2004, and settled on the lineup of Doherty, guitarist Patrick Walden, bassist Drew McConnell, and drummer Gemma Clarke by that summer. That fall, things went relatively smoothly for the band, with a sold-out U.K. tour and the release of a second single “Killamangiro” on the Libertines’ former label, Rough Trade. But by December, the band had to cancel or halt shows because Doherty was unable to perform; one of these sudden cancellations sparked a riot at the London Astoria. Clarke left the band early in 2005 and was replaced with new drummer Adam Ficek. Despite the band’s ongoing tumult – which included Doherty’s arrest for allegedly assaulting and blackmailing documentarian Max Carlish (these charges were dropped that spring) – Babyshambles began work on their first album. Teaming up with former Libertines producer Mick Jones, the band worked on the album through the spring and summer of 2005 and released the single “F**k Forever” that August as a teaser for the full-length.
